Are bad knock-offs of Alberto Mantilla’s Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers art? According to Robert Lederman, president of the street art advocacy group A.R.T.I.S.T., Bloomberg is killing New York City street art. Really? There are clearly some legit artists selling their work in city parks but some of these guys are just plain pushing tchotchkes. The Parks Department wants to limit the number of vendors at Union Square, Central Park, and other park locations. They claims the rules will decrease congestion. I’m for that. Especially near Union Square.
